Ronaldo became the first person to reach 1 billion followers across all major social media platforms. Sharing this important moment on his YouTube channel, which he opened last month, the star football player also started a live follower count before reaching the billion-follower count and experienced his excitement with his viewers.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s YouTube channel reached 15 million subscribers on the first day it was opened, and within a week, this number increased to 50 million. Currently, the channel has surpassed 60 million subscribers.
Ronaldo celebrated the milestone on Instagram and X, saying: “We made history – 1 BILLION followers! It’s not just a number, it’s a testament to our shared passion, determination and love for the game. From the streets of Madeira to the biggest stages in the world, I’ve always played for my family and for you. Now we stand together, 1 billion of us. “
The vast majority of Ronaldo’s social media following is concentrated on Instagram, where he has 639 million followers, equivalent to about 8 percent of the world’s population. He also has impressive numbers on other platforms: 170.5 million on Facebook and 113 million on X (formerly Twitter).
By comparison, CR7’s closest football rival Lionel Messi has over 500 million followers. American celebrities Selena Gomez, Kylie Jenner and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson follow Ronaldo with 424 million, 397 million and 395 million Instagram followers respectively.
Ronaldo’s career earnings, adjusted for inflation, reached $1.92 billion as of March this year. At this rate, he is expected to pass the $2 billion mark by the end of the year. If he does, he will join the exclusive $2 billion club currently held only by basketball legend Michael Jordan and golf icon Tiger Woods.
